Sakamata was very clearly aware of the fact that Midoriya was not happy in the current situation he was in. Not just because he had been captured, but the fact that the Commission were the ones who stuck Sakamata in this case. They had a great deal of interest in Midoriya and what he knew about the League and Sakamata had been one who wasn’t always the most comfortable with performing interrogations. Not to say he hadn’t done it on plenty of villains in the past, but he felt like this one was different… because he was interrogating a prior student of U.A. High.
That just made him feel weird, to begin with, and he hated that he had to be the one to sit here and listen while the Commission sat on the other side of the wall not even batting an eye. They could have cared less about what happened to Midoriya, they would care less about what Sakamata did to get the information out of the poor kid.
But that was no longer Sakamata’s objective. His new objective was to try and get the kid out alive. While he didn’t think he’d want to return to hero society, the least he could do was try to get him out without any other issues. Because the last thing he needed was for him to not even be able to see the light of day again. That already haunted his mind enough with some of the things he had heard from Hawks, but he didn’t want to think about that happening to Midoriya.
❝Midoriya, you think that I don’t know you won’t give anything up?❞ he whispers softly and just glares at him. He turns his head to face the darkened glass on the side of the room, before turning his head back to Midoriya and he gives what can only resemble a snarl. A snarl of annoyance and anger. Not for the kid. For the Commission. He was fed up with their games and the number of times he and Hawks were having conversations about them just seemed to grow.
Even though it never seemed like the two would talk in the first place.
❝I know you can’t betray your new home, your new family,❞ he nods, ❝I’m here because they wanted to find anything and everything out about the League, in any way I could. I have my full right to kill you here on the spot, I have been granted that power. I can’t even promise you if they wanted to give you a reduced sentence, because their only goal is to get info about the League.❞
He sighs and he taps the table for a few moments. He was upset, just as Midoriya was, about everything that happened. He could only wish to go back in time and help the kid. But that wasn’t something he could do.
❝I’m not going to pry you about the League, I see no reason. It’s a waste of time… Instead, I wanted to ask about something more simple,❞ Sakamata says and leans forward just a bit in his chair as he looks at him, ❝What would you say to… a new deal. Not from the Commission. Not from anyone else. From me, specifically? I can promise you a way out, I know my way here.❞
An angry scowl crosses his face and he his eyes shoot a side glare at the window. He knew the Commission were likely already freaking out, calling some backup or police forces to likely stop water Sakamata was doing. But the orca had made up his mind. The Commission had fucked up for the last time. And Sakamata was tired of their shit and them controlling so many heroes.
❝How would it sound to have your own freedom back? At the cost of the Commission losing a powerful hero?❞
Izuku seems to shrink back a little under his glare, despite how quiet his voice was. It’s hard to tell what’s going through the heroes mind, as he looks between him and the dark glass, where he could only presume the police were watching and recording them. Gang Orca seems angry, frustrated, and Izuku can only assume that he must be the root cause - what else could it be, in this otherwise empty room? Even if he was just annoyed that he’d been assigned this job, it was still sort of Izuku’s fault for winding up here…
It comes as a surprise when he goes as far to refer to the League as his new family - it was true, to an extent, he had grown rather close with quite a few of their members - but he would’ve thought that a hero would try to convince him otherwise. He expected the hero to tell him that the League didn’t really care about him, that they would betray him if he didn’t betray them first, and so on… But for Gang Orca to validate that was shocking. His first hint that something more was going on here, perhaps.
It’s also, of course, somewhat shocking when he’s so blunt about ‘their’ intentions of only getting information on the League and nothing else… Normally, that threat against his life would make him nervous, and he can’t deny the shiver than runs through him at first, but the more Gang Orca continues, the less and less this seems… Right. This wasn’t a run-of-the-mill interrogation, was it?
… And his suspicions were confirmed at the mention of a deal. He looks like a deer in headlights, unsure of exactly how to respond at first. A deal with Gang Orca? He could get him out of here? He notices him glare at whoever was behind the glass - ah, so he was going to take this as an opportunity for rebellion? Maybe he did realize how corrupt hero society was - though right now, his reasons didn’t really matter. He just had to get the hell out of here by any means necessary.
“A - a deal for my freedom?” Was all he could sputter out at first, but he had to react fast. Surely law enforcement wasn’t just going to sit back there and do nothing, seeing what was happening here. “Yes - I’ll take your deal.I’ll do whatever it takes if it means I can get out of here! So what’s the plan? What do I have to do?”
